BE ADVISED: The doors to PBJS will be locked all weekend. Please knock on one of the conference room windows to either side of the door, and someone will let you in. Or try the doorbell thing. I think it works.

Space is available both Saturday and Sunday (thanks John Harper!!) The space is free, but perhaps you could buy John a beer. Really...he won't mind.

What is Go Play Northwest?

Go Play Northwest is a convention for people who like to design, run, and play independent role-playing games. We'll be getting together for two days in Seattle, playing our favorite games, talking about games, and generally having a good time.

Game or games I could run/facilitate: Cyber Ninja Pirates (a game in beta of mine, super duper space opera where players combine great ability with gross deficiencies with push-pull around creating beneficial and counter-productive "teamwork"; gaming periods are marked into "Chapters" which have "Goals" which borrow from Tony Dowler's Principia in some ways), Office Dogs at the Watercooler (Dogs in the Vineyard but you're a corporate consultant), Les Chiens de la Terreur (Dogs in the Vineyard set in the Reign of the Terror); I want to do something special, though, and run an overnight game with exhaustion as a real factor, doing The Prisoner, as in the TV limited run series - I have a beta version, using Mountain Witch as the basis but with Power Points that work sort of like (but not too close to, just giving you an idea) Fear in My Life with Master, kinda, kinda - anyway, you'll see, if you want to do it, it would run such as starting Slot 3 Saturday (and maybe Friday night as a "Part One" if everyone's there that night) and through until something like 4 AM to experience psycho-fatigue along with gaming (to me, that's fun....) - alternately, I might also run Prisoner in one of the longer slots, I actually call it "In the Village"

Roleplay God's Watchdogs in a West that never was. Outsiders threaten to tear the branch apart, snatching food from the mouths of children and stealing daughters from their father's homes. It's up to the Dogs to sort things out, put right what ain't and preserve the Faithful, no matter what it takes. Does the sinner deserve mercy? Do the wicked demand judgement? You decide. 2.5 Montsegur 1244

Game System: Montsegur 1244 , a game by Frederick J. Jensen

Synopsis: Do you renounce your heretic beliefs and do you wish to receive the forgiveness of the merciful Father?
In March 1244 this question was posed to several hundred Cathars. They had surrendered to the army that had besieged the castle of Montsegur for more than nine months. More than two hundred answered no, and thereby chose death by fire. Who were these people that chose to die for their belief?
In Montsegur 1244 the players collaborate to create a story about who these people were. Each player takes on the role of one of the besieged Cathars who will face the choice between life and faith.

The second edition is developing quite well, and I'm very excited about this opportunity to take a new group through it.

It's not as well known as the coffee, but Seattle is also a major center for Ethiopian food. Don't let the unpretentious atmosphere fool you, Mesob is one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in town. It also happens to be very inexpensive. Mesob has two eating areas. Don't be fooled by the front room. The real party happens in the back.

Nightlife

The Mercury
The Mercury has a reptuation as the best goth dance club in the city. It's located in the basement of an entirely different business and not necessarily easy to find, and you need to be with a member to get in. If you're interested in taking part in a night at the mercury, it's probably a good idea to use the wiki or the forums to organize it. There are sure to be some members going to Go Play who will be glad to bring in some guests.

Attractions/Visiting

Burke Museum
The University of Washington's Burke Museum's collections offer an amazing trek through the culture, history, geology, natural history, and prehistory of the Pacific Northwest. Beautiful permanent collections and rotating exhibits, as well as activities for children, are sure to make every visit a wonderful experience.

Pike Place Market
Pike Place Market is a way cool place to check out. It's a labrynthine maze of shops, bars, nooks, and crannies with a fish market on top. You'll absolutely want to include it your next role-playing campaign. There's also a good comics and collectables shop with a decent games rack as well.

Seattle Aquarium
Located on the waterfront, the Seattle Aquarium lets visitors see, explore and touch the underwater world. Popular exhibits include Life of a Drifter, Life on the Edge, the marine mammals, and many daily talks, feeding times, and demonstrations.

Tillicum Village
Located on Blake Island State Park, Tillicum Village offers a Northwest traditional-style salmon feast, Native American dances and stories, and the cruise there gives beautiful views of Seattle, Puget Sound and Mt. Rainer. For a cruise, entertainment, and all-you-can-eat alder-smoked salmon, it's a really great deal. Pick a sunny day for maximum enjoyment!

Woodland Park Zoo
One of the best zoos in North America, the Woodland Park Zoo presents animals in settings as close as possible to their preferred habitat. Crowd pleasers include the tiger cub born on December 12, 2006; the new Zoomazium exhibit for kids; the bears at the Northern Trail exhibit; feeding times, including the popular the raptors; and many other exhibits and activities.

What is a story games lounge?
This is a room dedicated to playing our favorite role-playing games. The emphasis is on independent RPGs that emphasize story, but really any game or gamer is welcome.

When and where?
Dates: The Lounge will be open Saturday and Sunday, Feb 16-17

Anyone attending ConQuest is welcome to run a game or participate in any number of games. You do not need to sign up for games ahead of time. We'll be organizing games for each session ON SITE. This allows everyone to request the games they want to play, and offer to run games that people are interested in. You can also schedule your game ahead of time or sign up for confirmed games.
